The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Thursday, raised the alarm over alleged missing result sheets ahead of the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.
DAILY POST reports that Chairman of the party in the State, Barr. Ben Nwoye, who addressed journalists at the Enugu APC secretariat, said elections would not hold in the affected places until the missing result sheets were made available.
Nwoye said the discovery was made during the sorting and verification of sensitive election materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Enugu.
The chairman said the Election Officers, EOs, in the affected local governments had raised the alarm over the development last week, regretting that nearly one week after, the items were yet to be found.
He identified the missing items to include: “Udi- form 18c for Senate missing, Awgu- 8C missing, Oji River- 12 senatorial result sheets missing for one ward. Aninri missing result sheets for senatorial, 11 for Oduma 1 and 3 for Oduma 2.”
He said “whereas that of Udi is said to have been traced to another State, we don’t know the whereabouts of the result sheets missing from other local government areas.
“But the law is simple on this; if there is result sheet in any area, no election will hold in such a place.”
Nwoye, however, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, “for their transparency and open doors so far in handling the process, especially at the CBN.”
The chairman called on the people of the State to come out en-masse on Saturday and vote for the APC candidates.
