1. Innoson Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s indigenous vehicle production company, has instituted a move to take over Guaranteed Trust Bank, GTB, following a ruling by the Supreme Court over the bank’s N8.7 billion indebtedness to the company.

In ruling delivered by Honourable Olabode Rhodes-Vivour JSC on Wednesday, “the Lord Justices of the Supreme Court (JSC) dismissed GTB’s appeal and thus affirmed the concurrent judgment of both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division which ordered GTB by way of Garnishee order absolute – to pay N2.4 Billion to Innoson with a 22% interest, per annum, on the judgment until the final liquidation of the judgment.”

2. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Friday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election.

Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo A. Ayokunle, CAN President, who led the body’s delegation to Aso Villa, prayed that God shall grant Buhari everything it takes to perform “hundred times better than your first term”.

3. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Friday, warned of dire consequences over the bench warrant issued against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, Secretary General, the apex Igbo organization said such order would spell doom.

4. The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Friday, upheld the nullification of the re-election of Ovie Omo-Agege, the Senator representing Delta Central district on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court also nullified the election of Francis Waive, who was declared winner of the Ughelli North, South and Udu House of Representatives seat on the APC platform.

5. President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Friday, said that Nigeria was sitting on a time bomb if it doesn’t create jobs.

Saraki, who made the assertion while delivering a goodwill message at the Body of Benchers Nigeria Award Night in Abuja, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, added that the judiciary is also key to ensuring sustainable economic development of the country.

6. Imo State police command has announced the arrest of one Friday Nnaekezie suspected to be the mastermind and killer of Late Magistrate Remi Ogu of Magistrate of Oru West Magistrate Court in Imo State.

Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, in Owerri said the suspect paid the sum of N500,000 to 3 hired killers from Lagos who carried out the dastardly act.

7. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, explained why he chose to observe Jumaat prayers at the Presidential Villa and not the National Mosque in Abuja.

According to him, this is to prevent the constraints and inconveniences presidential movements may cause to residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

8. Justice Adebowale Candide-Johnson of an Ikeja High Court on Friday, declared HRH Rilwan Akiolu as the bona fide Oba of Lagos.

Candide-Johnson in a two-hour judgment held that considering the totality of the evidence before the court, Akiolu had a rightful claim to the throne.

9. The wife of Suleiman Abubakar, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and three other women abducted along Gudi-Keffi Road on Wednesday, have regained their freedom.

ASP Samaila Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nasarawa told newsmen on Friday in Lafia that the victims were released by their captors at 9:45 pm on Thursday.

10. Tonye Cole, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the March 9 elections that held in the state.
